After winning the National Geographic Geo challenge competition in the summer of 2019, the team has continued their work on creating a microplastics filtration system.
Team Navigators has designed an innovative solution to clean the microplastics in our rivers. The new system will have 3 steps :
- A filter chamber will be used to vacuum microplastics from the surface of the river.
- The microplastics will then be filtered into a separate collection chamber.
- The clean water will then flow back into the river.
The full working microplastics filtration system prototype is expected to be completed by March of 2020.
